GOLD104.3 & Kangan Institute Heroes Scholarship Terms and Conditions

1. By applying for, and taking part in, the GOLD104.3 and Kangan Institute Heroes scholarship (‘Scholarship’), all applicants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Any violation of these Terms and Conditions may result in your application being rejected or your Scholarship being revoked. The Scholarship is only available for the following courses offered by Kangan Institute:

(a)        Diploma of Horticulture (AHC50416);

(b)        Certificate III in Pathology Collection (HLT37215);

(c)        Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising (MST60119);

(d)        Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (ACM50219);

(e)        Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English (10730NAT);

(f)         Certificate III in Parks and Gardens (AHC31016);

(g)        Certificate IV in TESOL (10695NAT);

(h)        Advanced Diploma of Justice (22321VIC); and

(i)         Diploma of Logistics (TLI50219).

(each a ‘Selected Course’).

2. Applications for the Scholarship will be accepted from 5.15pm AEST Monday 31st May until 11pm AEST on Friday 25th June 2021 (Application Period). Applications submitted and received by Bendigo Kangan Institute (ABN 74 802 942 886) (‘Kangan Institute’) and Australian Radio Network Pty Ltd (ABN 95 064 985 987) (‘ARN’) after this time will not be accepted. The time of entry will in each case, be the time which the online entry is received by ARN and Kangan Institute, not the time of transmission by the applicant.

3. The Scholarship is open to Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents, aged 16 years and over, who apply during the Application Period and:

(a) outline in 500 words or less why you are interested in and excited about a career in the industry associated with a Selected Course ;

(b) satisfy the prerequisites for a Selected Course, including any enrolment criteria;

(c) have no outstanding debt to Kangan Institute;

(d) are available to commence study between July and December 2021 at the allocated intake date; and

(e) if under the age of 18 at the time of applying, have written permission from their parent or guardian to apply.

 
HOW TO APPLY:
4. The application process consists of two (2) rounds.

5. To apply for the Scholarship, each eligible applicant must complete the online application form during the Application Period. Applications must be submitted online and no submissions in any other form will be accepted under any circumstances.

6. Successful applicants selected to progress to the second round of applications will be invited to participate in a face-to-face interview with the scholarship selection committee, which will be comprised of representatives from Kangan Institute. The interviews will be held in the Melbourne metropolitan area during business hours.

7. ARN and Kangan Institute reserve the right, at any time, at their sole discretion, to verify the validity of any application (including an applicant’s identity, age and eligibility), and to disqualify any applicant whose application they reasonably consider is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who otherwise tampers with the application process. Manifest errors and omissions may be accepted at ARN and/or Kangan Institute’s discretion. Failure by ARN and/or Kangan Institute to enforce any of their rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

8.  Incomplete or indecipherable applications will be deemed invalid at ARN and/or Kangan Institute’s absolute discretion. ARN and/or Kangan Institute accept no responsibility for any incorrect, incomplete, lost, late or misdirected applications.

9. Kangan Institute will make their decision in relation to the recipients of the Scholarship in their absolute discretion, taking into account the criteria set out in clause 3.

10. Kangan Institute’s decision is final and no correspondence or communication will be entered into in relation to such decision or associated process.

 
SCHOLARSHIP:
11. There will be a total of four (4) recipients of the Scholarship in 2021

12. The awardees will be notified on or before Friday 2nd July 2021 either in person, via phone call or email.

13.  In the event that any awardee chooses not to accept a Scholarship, or does not complete the enrolment process with Kangan Institute, Kangan Institute reserves the right to award that awardee’s Scholarship to another applicant in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

14. For the four (4) recipients of the Scholarship, Kangan Institute will contribute to tuition fees and necessary study tools, learning resources such as stationery, textbooks, IT devices or other incidental expenses incurred by the awardee and approved by Kangan Institute.  The contribution made by Kangan Institute will be dependent upon the Selected Course with the total cumulative value of the contribution made by Kangan Institute for all four (4) of the awardees not exceeding $52,000 in total.  For the avoidance of doubt, you acknowledge that the level of contribution made by Kangan Institute is dependent upon your Selected Course, and the value of contribution made by Kangan Institute may not be the same value for all four (4) awardees.

15. Scholarships are not transferable, saleable or exchangeable under any circumstances whatsoever.

 
GENERAL:
16. Kangan Institute may reject any application without notice for any reason whatsoever.

17.  Applicants warrant and agree that their application does not contain viruses and will not cause injury or harm to any person or entity.

18. ARN and Kangan Institute accept no responsibility for applicants’ use (or attempted use) of Kangan Institute’s websites.

19. If, for any reason, the Scholarship is not capable of running as planned, including, but not limited to, as a result of tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of ARN and/or Kangan Institute which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of the Scholarship, ARN and/or Kangan Institute reserves the right, at their sole discretion: (a) to disqualify any applicant who tampers with the application process; or (b) to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Scholarship, as appropriate. If this Scholarship or application process is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of ARN or Kangan Institute, ARN and/or Kangan Institute also reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any applicant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Scholarship, as appropriate.

20. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ARN and/or Kangan Institute make no warranties, representations or guarantees, express or implied, in fact or in law, as regards this Scholarship.

21. ARN and Kangan Institute assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction, unauthorised access to, or alteration of, applications, or any other event beyond its control, and, in these circumstances, ARN and/or Kangan Institute may, in their absolute discretion, cancel the Scholarship (without liability) and, if it elects to do so, recommence it from the start on the same conditions.

22. All applications become the property of Kangan Institute (including any intellectual property rights comprised therein).

23. Any information you provide will be held in accordance with Bendigo Kangan Institute’s privacy policy, which can be viewed at https://www.kangan.edu.au/privacy-statement

24. The content of applications is confidential.  By applying for the Scholarship, you consent and agree that ARN and/or Kangan Institute may use your name and image to identify you as a recipient of the Scholarship if you are a successful applicant.

25. The Scholarship is not transferable to another training provider.

26. The Scholarship, and any issues relating to the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Terms and Conditions, is governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.

 
MARKETING AND PROMOTION:
28. If you are awarded and accept the Scholarship, you:

(a) Agree to appear in visual and/or audio recordings which can be used in advertisements, documents and other promotional material published by Kangan Institute and ARN;

(b) Give permission for your name, words, artworks and any visual and/or audio recordings of yourself to be used in advertisements, documents and other promotional material published by Kangan Institute and ARN; and

(c) Consent to the release to the media of your contact details at ARN and Kangan Institute’s discretion and understand this may result in the media wishing to contact you for possible further publicity activities, and that the usage of the information will be at the discretion of the respective editor/journalist.

TERMINATION OF SCHOLARSHIP:
29. Kangan Institute and ARN have the discretion to terminate the Scholarship and to recover payment in the event of:

(a) The behaviour of the recipient on or off campus is considered to bring disrepute upon the Scholarship, ARN or Kangan Institute;

(b) The program of study is being undertaken with insufficient diligence or not in accordance with the terms of the Scholarship;

(c) The recipient attends less than 90% of classes;

(d) Cancellation of enrolment/transfer to another teaching institute by the recipient;

(e) Deferral of study in the year of award without suitable rationale;
