There are no pre-requisites for this course. To apply for Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English - Further Studies you will need to undertake an assessment interview which will determine current language and literacy levels and course eligibility. Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3
The Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English (10730NAT) takes students to the final level of spoken and written English learning, and positions them for their next step. Students completing this course can choose to either continue on with English studies at a higher level or look for job opportunities as they now have the necessary English skills to succesfully navigate their way in an English speaking environment.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

If you were enrolling in this course outside of the scholarship program the fees are indicative below and will vary depending on the units you select and your eligibility.

Your total course fee will typically include your tuition fee (table 1), any applicable consumables and/or material fees (table 2) and non-tuition fees such as student support fees (table 3).
What employment opportunities will I have?
While this course does not provide direct employment outcomes, it prepares students of a non-English speaking background with the English language skills needed to access VET Training and employment.

Upon completion, students will have access to a wide range of TAFE courses to pursue training and a career of their choice in the same supportive environment that they undertook their English studies in.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?
Students completing this course will be proficient in the English language and will possess the language skills required to undertake further studies or seek employment.

What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English (10730NAT). This program is nationally recognised as part of the Australian Qualifications Framework.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Students successfully completing a Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English (10730NAT) may continue to other English language courses at a higher level. The Certificate IV ALSO prepares students for entry to vocational education and training in TAFE institutes or for entry to tertiary institutions.
